Cryptocurrency, Investments, REIT, Stocks

With tons of financial blogs and tools all over the internet, it can become pretty daunting for retail investors, especially when one is just starting out.

It can also be a problem for a savvy investor when he or she is constantly bombarded with media content from different sources like Bloomberg, ChannelNewsAsia, Trump tweets (it does move the markets!) and more.

With that in mind, we decided to compile a list of 7 credible and evergreen resources which I personally use for my myriad of investments – be it trading stocks or cryptocurrency. My list is by no means exhaustive, but it’s a great place to get started and I hope it will be useful for the many retail investors in Singapore.

#1 InvestingNote – The Social Network for Stocks

InvestingNote is what you would get when you turn the Facebook social network platform into just stocks related content.

The first of its kind in Singapore, it is set up with the aim of bringing together retail investors and traders for learning purposes. Ever since its launch in 2016, the platform has seen tremendous growth over the years.

At the time of writing this post, InvestingNote have more than 50,000 subscribers and monthly page views over 1,000,000. If you’re looking for a community where there is fervent interaction with other stock investors through polls, questions and more – InvestingNote is a great choice that you can go for.

#2 Youtube with Rayner – A Great place to learn Technical Analysis

Rayner is not a new name in the trading space – thousands of learners have benefited from his blog and YouTube Channel. Today, Rayner Teo is believed to be the most followed independent trader in Singapore.

Having started sharing his knowledge with the world back in 2009, this trading mogul has made hundreds of YouTube videos aimed at simplifying complex trading concepts both to amateur and experienced traders.

Throughout his teachings, he strongly explains why trading is not for lazy people who are looking to make quick money. Instead, Rayner provides his followers with a steady flow of practical lessons to be able to build well-rounded trading professionals.

#3 SGInvestor.io – Analyst Reports Hub

Wonder if any research analyst is writing on the particular Singapore stock you are interested right now?

You can simply head over to SGInvestors.io, a platform that compiles the various analyst research reports, featured posts from brokerage firms, latest news feed and more.

For example, if I want to find out what analysts are saying about Singtel, I can navigate to this link and straight away can see the analyst reports based on a particular date and brokerage firm.

Personally, I like to seek out another reliable opinion from analysts’ views in case I missed out any critical information which may affect my hypothesis significantly. As such, SGInvestors.io is a good avenue for me when it pools together all the useful analyst reports in one single place.

#4 MAS Opera – Starting Ground for IPO Prospectus

Retail investors who wish to participate in any new Initial Public Offering (IPO) listings may find that the prospectus doesn’t appear in Singapore Exchange until much later.

That said, you can usually find it in the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) Opera website. As shown above, you can find the latest listed LendLease Global Commercial REIT’s prospectus lodged as of 16th September 2019 and started trading on 2nd October 2019.

Hence, investors who want to take part in any Singapore IPOs should visit this venue and read up on the IPO prospectus as much as possible beforehand.

#5 SGX StockFacts – Free Screener

Being Singapore’s only stock exchange, SGX lists over 700 companies and provides different services related to securities and derivatives trading and others.

On a daily basis, hordes of retail investors frequent SGX website for the latest stock prices and company news. However, not many of them know about the free stock screener it boasts – SGX StockFacts.

Although it may not be as comprehensive as other paid stock screeners or those found in the brokerage platforms, SGX StockFacts still provides a trove of useful screening criteria like Dividend Yield (%), Debt/Equity, ROE (%), P/B ratio and more.

#6 ShareInvestor – Your Global Investment Vehicle

ShareInvestor.com is yet another platform that offers a wide array of financial information. For starters, ShareInvestor offers you share prices across different categories in 7 markets including Bursa Malaysia, Hong Kong Exchange, Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), SGX.

On top of that, you can gain free access to breaking corporate and market news, investment events, as well as an InsideINVEST column covering the latest articles.

That said, many of the additional comprehensive features such as Dividend Analysis and Intrinsic Value Calculator are only available with a membership subscription.

#7 CoinMarketCap – An overview of Cryptocurrency Prices and Exchanges

Probably the most visited site for cryptocurrency enthusiasts, CoinMarketCap.com displays the average prices of more than 2,400 coins/tokens (that’s more than the number of SGX-listed stocks!) although some of them may be no longer tradeable.

To add on, CoinMarketCap provides crypto investors with important information relating to these digital assets (crypto) pricing, circulating supply, trading volumes, exchange platforms, and more.

The list of cryptocurrencies is ranked based on their market capitalizations, which can be easily calculated by multiplying the circulating supply with its corresponding price.

As a crypto investor, you’ll find this site very useful when it comes to identifying legitimate crypto assets since CoinMarketCap only lists coins with valid APIs, have traded for at least 30 days in a public exchange, and contain a public URL showing the total supply.

Conclusion

All in all, the above resources/websites are pretty far-reaching whether if you are a trader or a crypto enthusiast. That said, you have to understand that no single platform (however great) can make you an expert after a few reads.

Go ahead and compile your list of trusted resources that can aid you in your investment decisions. We recommend that you stay focused on a few of them in order to quickly sieve out quality information and simplify your investing process.
