Most readers would know that we advocate the Conservative Net Asset Value (CNAV) approach to investing and we share the methodology through our courses.
Shareinvestor (SI) broached the idea of doing a joint seminar and I gladly agreed. I am a SI user so I know the value it can give to investors.
The CNAV approach is very appropriate for this joint event since SI is a tool to help investors pick stocks better. I am an user of the portfolio function in SI and I will explain how it saved me time and effort in monitoring the developments of my stocks. I will also use the new SI stock screener to filter stocks that would have higher chances of passing CNAV criteria.
Through a short discussion, I would like to understand how the audience select their stocks and identify the common mistakes that caused them to lose money. Subsequently,I will explain the CNAV approach and how it helps us to buy low and sell high objectively.
[Free Ebook] How should you invest your first $20,000?
We asked 14 Singapore finance bloggers to share what they would do if they could go back in time and invest their first $20,000. They can no longer rewind time, but you can learn from their experience and hopefully start with a better footing.
- Common Investors’ Mistakes
- The Genesis of the CNAV Strategy
- Calculating CNAV and POF Score
- CNAV Stocks in Reality
Who Should Attend?
You can skip this session if you have attended VIMC (unless you want to recap some of the pointers). However, this 3-hour session would not entirely cover all the topics in VIMC. I will focus on CNAV1 and POF calculations.
Even so, this short course would be useful if you are not intending to attend the full day VIMC and want to understand the approach for a small fee. You can always join VIMC subsequently if you find CNAV as an useful valuation metric and want a comprehensive explanation.
In short, you should attend this session if:
- You do not have time to go through a full day course but keen to learn investing.
- You are uncertain if CNAV is suitable for you and want to understand more by paying a small fee.
