Nothing else helps us keep track of the ups and downs in the stock market world better than blogs.

Aside from the usual reports on the latest news and updates, blogs offer us a new perspective on the stock market. This is especially helpful for investors who are still beginners since reading a wide range of opinions and discussions will help you to formulate a general perception of the markets and gain a better understanding.

Blogs serve as a space to discuss topics about the industry. More importantly, they also give us key insights and opinions which we might not have the knowledge to develop that ultimately helps shape the world of the stock market.

In Singapore, where the financial environment is very much alive and well, blogs are one of the best places to learn about investing.

Here are 10 Singapore investment blogs we think you should follow.

1. Dr Wealth

Shameless plug, but since we started out as BigFatPurse.com, Dr Wealth have been writing about:

  • Dividend Investing,
  • Growth Investing,
  • Technical Investing,
  • Case Studies,
  • Investing Mistakes,
  • Personal Finance,
  • and more

Our aim is to become the lotus in the financial education industry. We do not want to be associated with the get rich quick people. We only want to inculcate the real investment strategies that work for keen investors. We want to be remembered for being the most trusted financial educator.

As such, Dr Wealth focuses on providing trusted financial education and reliable investing content to individuals.

2. A Path to Forever Financial Freedom

A Path to Forever Financial Freedom is a personal blog managed by Brian Halim. His entire blog keeps track of his: “pursue of financial independence by the age of 35.”

By this, he means to have a passive income that would cover 1.5x of his expenses.

Brian Halim is a financial controller in a logistic industry with 9 years worth of experience.

Now at 33, Halim only has 2 years left to reach his goal. In the latest article about him written in the Straits Times, it is stated that Halim is on track.

His personal blog chronicles not only his own personal journey towards his goal but also other personal finance and investing related matters.

He has written over 650 articles so far since the beginning of his blog in 2011.

5. Dollars and Sense

DollarsAndSense is a Singaporean digital publisher that aims to help people make better financial decisions. This business and economy website does this by featuring articles on topics about:

  • Savings
  • Insurance
  • Investing
  • Trading
  • Property
  • Policies and Columns

Through these, they show the importance of financial literacy among Singaporeans. They believe that the fast growing industry of Singapore has produced a number of financial institutions that leave Singaporeans confused and behind.

In their attempt to solve this, DollarsAndSense has converted the financial matters, issues, and information into “bite-sized, interesting, and enjoyable manner”.

They especially achieve this through the group of young Singaporeans in their mid-20s working behind the website.

DollarsAndSense is perfect for those Singaporeans who are still new to the financial industry.

They try to make all the complicated financial concepts and technical jargon understandable for people who are not familiar with it.

6. Seedly

Seedly is probably more known as an app that helps track finances. However, not only is Seedly an app, it also has a blog.

To fully perform their function as an application, they would have to prove their expertise on handling finances through their articles.

Rightly so, as their articles cover a range of topics that could help improve a person’s financial literacy.

With their application coupled with the blog, they are able to achieve their aim. Their mission and vision states:

“At Seedly, we believe that anyone can achieve financial freedom with the right tools and the right mindset. We aim to become a modern and relevant way to manage your money by leveraging the latest technology.”

He shared that his aim for the blog is to journal down his thoughts on personal financial issues. He is currently 27 years old and has been writing for over 4 years.

And if you are asking who is behind this, unfortunately he only goes by GMGH on the internet.

But even with the anonymity, you can be assured that you’ll still get full transparency on his ideas and tips.

Also, if you are worried if his opinions are reliable, then allow us to tell you that he studied Business and was even an exchange student to attend one of the top business universities in Europe.

Since then, he has been working and blogging about the financial market. He also features the bond portfolios of his mother and sister that he tracks and records.

10. FIRE-Path Lion

Last but not least, FIRE-PATH Lion (FPL).

In case you’re wondering, FIRE stands for Financial Independence Retire Early. He’s not alone in the FIRE camp either. Our Early Retirement Masterclass trainer Christopher is also a firm believer in FIRE, which leaves me excited to watch and monitor his progress. A firm believer of the freedom that passive income can bring you, FPL  stresses the importance of the cornerstones of retiring early:

  1. Spending less than you earn
  2. Investing the surplus
  3. Avoiding debt

With a timeframe of ten years to retirement, FPL hopes to capture his progress, methods, and means within his blog for the benefit of the reader.

He’s broken down some of the key content that most readers will find useful such as how much to save so that you never have to work again as well as as comprehensive analysis on the STI ETF. All in, the above blogs will not only serve to widen your circle of knowledge and competence on investing, but also hopefully steer you towards better investing practices. Remember that these bloggers will also often be rather responsive so you should be able to bounce ideas or questions off of them and gain new insights.

Remember.

Stay Objective. Stay Unemotional. And get wealthy.

  1. Sorry, have to disagree with your assessment. To put Mortley Fool as no. 1 is discrediting your reputation. I have nothing against it except the blog is too advertorial rather than informative. It is very bias towards marketing their subscription rather than educate. So content-wise, it does not give anything away.

You should not leave out ‘property soul’. The blog is truly worth reading, the contents have depth as well as originality( taste of Spore) and scope. IMHO, ‘property soul’ easily displaces Mortley Fool for pole position.
