I read lesser books on property than equities. Not because I am not interested in property, but there are less books out in the market. With less books and less competition, the quality of information tends to be poorer. But I was pleasantly surprised when I pick up this review copy from Mr Propwise, who is the author of this book that I am reviewing about. If you remember, he did a guest post on BigFatPurse in Dec 2010 – “Should you invest in properties and equities?”.

Back to the book, Mr Propwise was able to gather 11 property experts in various areas, law, financing, en bloc, financial planning, training and sales. These experts are notable people in the local property scene and some of them have published their own property books. Mr Propwise was able to tap their minds and distilled the knowledge and experience into succinct text that is straight to the point. You would be overwhelmed by practical tips one after another. Take your time to read and re-read again on these words of wisdom.

You would be interested to know the 11 property experts:

As you can see, you can learn from so many people in just one book. Just one idea that you can apply successfully would make you very rich.

The way the book is structured is easy to follow. Each person takes up a chapter so that the reader can follow his argument and chain of thought from the start to the end. I believe Mr Propwise has interviewed the people but have paraphrased such that the book does not present itself like a Q & A session. On the other hand, he has posted good questions to elicit the gems from these experts.

These are the burning questions most investors would like to hear from the experts:

  • How to time your entry in the property market
  • The biggest mistakes property investors and novices make
  • Should buyers go ahead with their purchase despite the measures?
  • Their top property financing (and refinancing) tips
  • What a landlord should do to protect his interests before renting to a tenant
  • What an investor should check before committing to a property purchase
  • How to find properties with en bloc potential
  • Top reasons why most en bloc deals fail

Reading the book is as good as having a real conversation with the experts. In the first place, if you do not have good connections, you would not even have the chance to talk to these people. Mr Propwise has brought them together to you. Secondly, you would not have grasped all the points that the experts have shared and Mr Propwise has captured and summarised for you.

It’s a book that I will keep it on my shelf, something that I would refer time to time again for the words of wisdom.
