Our flagship investment course is the Value Investing Mastery Course. It is about stock picking using the Conservative Net Asset Value (CNAV) approach, which is grounded in Benjamin Graham’s philosophy.
We also understand that not everyone want or need to pick stocks. Some are happy to maintain a simple investment portfolio and grow their wealth with minimal effort.
Yes, proper stock picking can yield a higher returns for the investor. However, not many investors can withstand the volatility of stock prices and often result in buying and selling the stocks at the wrong time.
Hence, I have written The Singapore Permanent Portfolio book and hope to spread the message about simple portfolio management which requires minimal effort to monitor and rebalance the portfolio.
[Free Ebook] How should you invest your first $20,000?
We asked 14 Singapore finance bloggers to share what they would do if they could go back in time and invest their first $20,000. They can no longer rewind time, but you can learn from their experience and hopefully start with a better footing.
Most people should be able to implement it without any help, given the availability of low cost exchange traded funds around the world. It has never been easier to build a global and well diversified investment portfolio at very affordable costs.
Even if you are a stock picker, stocks may just represent a portion of your investment portfolio. There may be other asset classes which you would want in the portfolio in order to match your volatility tolerance and expected returns.
Learn With Fun
We met Xeo Lye in the middle of 2014 when he launched a financial game called Wongamania. We have also done an interview with him previously. This game is a very good learning tool for players to understand economic cycles. Each player will experience how such cycles can be unpredictable and sometimes life can deal you a tough card. The realism in this game can help players increase their awareness about their money decisions and realise how such decisions can affect their financial outcomes. Most importantly, players will have to invest in different asset classes like stocks, bonds and properties in order to win the game, and they will experience how one asset class can do well in one economic cycle while very bad in another.
