Eric recommended Dennis to discuss with BigFatPurse about one of the startups he had been mentoring. I could not make out what Eric was trying to explain and he said I should just meet Dennis in person to understand this project that he was talking about. Dennis contacted me and we finally met up with the developers.
Dennis said he is a value investing practitioner. He was so encouraged by the way Aggregate introduced themselves on the website that he went to meet Eric right away. They hit it off pretty well and that was when Eric talked about BigFatPurse.com and we got into the picture.
Okay, enough of the background story. Now, about the real stuff…
Mobile Read BigFatPurse.com
The project was to enable readers to read, share and discuss about blogs in one mobile app. It may sound like an RSS feeder or a blog aggregator but it isn’t, as they explained it to me. RSS reader does not give control to the publishers. I cannot communicate with the readers through these RSS readers. It is passive reading and rather primitive compared to our advancement in social networks.
[Free Ebook] How should you invest your first $20,000?
We asked 14 Singapore finance bloggers to share what they would do if they could go back in time and invest their first $20,000. They can no longer rewind time, but you can learn from their experience and hopefully start with a better footing.
Their app, named Swavit, gives control to publishers like me. I can control what content to be published. Most importantly, I can connect with readers using this app.
I love the clean layout and user-friendly navigation. Take a look at some of the screen shots:
The Articles are arranged in reverse chronologically (most recent article first). You can just click on the title that interests you and it will bring you to the article.
You can access other pages on the BigFatPurse Menu bar.
You can also surf and search for the article category which you are interested in.
And you can change the text size easily. You can also see the comments and sharing icons on the top right hand corner. You can leave a comment directly on the app and share the article on facebook and other social media.
You can access other blogs and keep them in your favourite reading list.
There’s also push function where you would receive a notification whenever we published a new article on BigFatPurse.com.
Currently Swavit is only on iOS. The Android version would be introduced subsequently. Swavit is still in its nascent stage and we can expect to see much more features and functions for readers and publishers.
We are proud to be one of the first, if not the first blog, to be published on Swavit! More interesting blogs are going to be on Swavit. Get the free app and start surfing away! http://appstore.com/
